When it comes to landscaping your yard, you want to be sure that you choose something that is attractive for yourself and for potential home buyers in the future if you plan to sell. You also want to be sure that the landscaping isn't too much work for yourself, especially if you don't have the time to tend to your yard as often as you would like to. In order to maintain great landscaping, you will want to avoid these four common mistakes that can lead to a rather dull looking yard:

  1. Planting Trees Too Deep: If you ever decide to plant a tree in your yard, you will want to be sure that you do not plant it too deep. Planting a tree underneath too much soil can prevent it from being able to soak up as much water as it needs to. Eventually, the tree will die and you will have to have it removed, which is both expensive and time consuming, especially if you want the stump removed from your yard, as well.
  2. Over or Under Watering: When it comes to watering your yard, you want to be sure that you are not doing it too much, since this can cause some plants to basically drown. This makes them appear withered and eventually they will die. You also don't want to under water, since this can prevent some plants from getting as much water as they really need. It's important to choose plants for your yard that require the same amount of water so that you don't risk over or under watering some plants. You may even consider getting sprinklers and putting them on a timer to ensure that they are always getting watered, even on days when you are busy.
  3. Overcrowding: When you plant plants in your yard, you want to be sure that there is ample space for them to grow. If you overcrowd the plants with other plants, then it can cause them to compete with one another for nutrients from the soil, water, and more.
  4. Planting Plants that are Wrong for the Climate: When it comes to planting plants in your yard, you want to be sure that you choose plants that work well in the climate all year round. If you go through drastic seasonal changes, for example, then you want to choose plants that are able to withstand the harsh winters and dry summers.

By avoiding these four mistakes when dealing with your landscaping, you can be sure that your landscape stays beautiful and appealing all year round. Contact a professional service like A-1 Landscaping & Lot Clearing for additional help.
